With changing algorithms and shortening attention spans, it is crucial to invest wisely on social media content.

You have very little time to set yourself apart on social media platforms, so savvy communicators will take advantage of every opportunity. If video is performing well, double down on those snackable videos. If your audience loves to share graphics, make sure you create exciting visuals that pack a punch.

This infographic from MicroCreatives looks at the types of social media content that will be in demand in 2020.

Some of the areas it identifies:

  • It’s increasingly crucial to target your audience with location-specific content.
  • Video continues to grow, with 56% of users watching videos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
  • Virtual reality and augmented reality will be more popular as Facebook and others improve those technologies.

Location-specific is slowly emerging on Facebook, for example. Ephemeral content aka stories will be everywhere, even on LinkedIn. When it comes to product discovery via social media, LinkedIn will be a game-changer for the B2B community. It’s becoming kind of marketplace. I would add privacy. It sounds obvious, for it will be a major factor in using social media by people. Check this survey about it: https://twitter.com/MNieweglowski/status/1182602232010817536

Hello! I’ve ghostwritten several articles and books about AI, VR and IoT. I believe you are spot on with these ideas. Personalization is especially important. I know that I turn off a commercial or ad within a few seconds if it doesn’t apply.
