Child rushed to hospital after being hit by lorry near Springburn shopping centre

A child has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a lorry near Springburn shopping centre.

Reports on social media indicate a girl, aged around three or four, was involved in the incident in the north of Glasgow.

Police rushed to the scene of the collision on Carleston Street at 10.52am on Friday October 11.

Images posted on Twitter show the area taped off with officers on the scene.

An eyewitness report posted on Facebook claimed a girl was unconscious in what was being described as a “hit and run”

Chris Smith posted on Twitter: “Hit & run up at Springburn shopping centre there, wee girl 2-3 year old hit n the driver booted it away”.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.52am to reports of a road traffic accident between a lorry and a pedestrian on Carleston Street.

“A child has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.”
